The reference staff at Truxal Library are happy to help with your citation questions! The reference desk on the first floor of the library is always staffed so that you can drop by anytime the library is open to get assistance with citations. So, no appointment is necessary! If you think that you need intensive help that might take more than 15 minutes or so and can let us know when you are coming, we will try to have a staff member available to work with you one-on-one, without interruption. This is not always possible because of staffing, but if we can, we will!

To make the time working with reference staff as productive as possible, please have available the sources (or links to the sources) that you are citing. Reference staff can help you identify the formats of your sources and give guidance on following style guidelines. While we cannot proofread entire bibliographies, we can definitely give pointers on how to do this for yourself. We suggest allowing yourself plenty of time to revise your citations after meeting with a librarian.

If getting to campus is difficult, note that Truxal Library reference staff also meet with students online via the Virtual Writing Center to help with research or citations. These are half-hour appointments that must be made at least 24 hours in advance. This can be very convenient because you can do this from home, but it does take a little advance planning and software testing on your end. To learn more about this option, see: http://www.aacc.edu/resources/academic-services/tutoring/writing-center/virtual-writing-center/

Finally, if you haven't already, please check out our citation guide that covers APA and MLA style: http://libguides.aacc.edu/citationguide.
