I can't afford my textbooks. Can you help?

Yes, the library maintains a collection of many print textbooks for short-term use. For longer-term and digital options, see Other college resources below.

Note: The library does not sell textbooks. To purchase books, see the AACC Bookstore.

Library reserves

The library has course texts for many AACC classes available for checkout at the circulation desk. Typically, we have one or two copies available for short-term checkout. Some textbooks can be checked out for 3 days at a time, but others must be used inside the library. There is a free easy-to-use scanner if you'd like to save pages to review later. (In very few cases, departments have provided several copies of a textbook, so longer checkouts are possible.)

If the reserve collection does not include your course text, don't worry! We have a fund that allows us to purchase required and optional course texts from the AACC Bookstore. Any AACC student can request that we add a course textbook – just come to the circulation desk to fill out a request form. You'll be notified when the textbook is ready for checkout. Please note that if we only have one copy of a book, the loan period will be 3 hours, in-library-use only.

  • We cannot provide access codes or digital-only textbooks.
  • If your class uses DDA (direct digital access) materials, the library is not able to purchase the print version directly from the bookstore. We will still attempt to obtain a copy, but it will require a special order and may take a few weeks.

Circulating books

In addition to reserves, many other books used in classes (novels, plays, biographies, etc.) are available for checkout from the library's "stacks." These items can be checked out for 4 weeks (28 days) with the option to renew. Visit the reference desk for help finding a book in the stacks.
